  So we got a new type of hay yesterday because we ran out. Jitters ate her pellet mush and her lettuce Monday night. She seemed less active yesterday but I didn’t pay too much attention because sometimes she gets annoyed at us and is like that. I gave her pellet mush last night, an apple stick, her lettuce, dry pellets and of course hay last night. I woke up early this morning to study for a final and nothing had been really touched. I think a few bites were gone from her pellet mush but that was all. I couldn’t tell if she pooped so I put a fresh litter box in there.
  
  The first 3 weeks we had her her didn’t really eat. She had been doing really well the past two weeks eating a slightly less than normal amount of food, but still eating and eating hay well. I really don’t want to have to do this all over again. I’m not sure whether to aggressively attack this from the beginning and syringe feed her or hold off stressing her and observe.
  
  For now I plan to get parsley and cilantro after my final and see if she would like that. I’m going to remake her mush and see if she will eat that. I’m not sure what to do about hay as that ended up being the last thing she ate and we only have new hay that she doesn’t seem to like.
  
  Any advice would be great. We really need to get to the bottom of these issues.

  She just did a few poops in her litter box. They were the ones that were strung up by hair but a lot of her poops are like that.

  I wonder if it would be worth starting her on an analgesic to see if it’s pain-related? Or even an ulcer med perhaps, if the risks are low. Ranitidine (aka Zantac) is sometimes given for gut troubles in rabbit. Its anti-ulcer med but it’s also thought it has some effect on gut motility. Sometimes the med can give a clue as to what a cause is, if you see an improvement once they’re on it. It won’t pin point things of course.

  We have Ranitidine in our bunny medical kit thanks to Bam’s suggestion but haven’t used it yet. Can bunnies get ulcers ( I know you were suggesting more for the gut motility? I have horses and ulcers is a big issue with some of them.
  We also have medicam that Jitterbug was on during her last episode so we can try that when she experiences it again.
  But, good new! She ate her pellet mush during the night last night and some of her lettuce. I really don’t this she likes the hay so I might have to get more or something unfortunately. She seems like a very picky bunny and also couldn’t care less about food. Where as food is Kraken’s one and only goal in life.

  I don’t mean to be judgmental, but I’ve read that rabbits shouldn’t be fed iceberg lettuce. We do feed our rabbits romaine lettuce. They typically only eat the green leafy part and leave the stalk uneaten.
  
  Just to continue about food, we go to a farmer’s market weekly and get free carrot tops and fennel tops. They love this and the price is great. There’s a 99 Cent Store nearby and we can often buy a head of romaine for 99 cents. A bargain. Last time there, there were only a few heads of romaine on display, my wife had a clerk go to the back of the store for more. She bought 12 heads. Why there another lady joined in and bought three heads of romaine….for her turtle! We also buy bok choy (a Chinese lettuce that slightly resembles romaine), chilantro, parsley, dandelion leaves, dill.
  
  We have two rabbits that are mostly Flemish. They are almost 8 months and weigh 10+ pounds. They have big appetites.

  Yeah I didn’t say she got iceberg. But I also didn’t say what type of lettuce she gets. Jitterbug and Kraken get romaine lettuce and parsley or cilantro. Kraken also gets kale sometimes but we haven’t introduced that into Jitterbugs diet yet as we are quite careful because of her stasis issues.

  Yes, they can get ulcers. Bunnies and horses have a lot in common when it comes to gut health, it seems. I’m uncertain if ulcers are as big a problem in rabbits though. [edit] Is she established with your vet yet or just the Rescues? I’d ask about ranitidine. It can lower acidity of the gut and the rabbit gut needs to be acidic. But a lot of owners have reported it was the thing that helped their rabbit with gut trouble.
