I’m visiting my parents for 6 days – today is the last day. My new bun Gus (I’ve had him one month) came with me. He coped very well with the drive, eating and drinking at every stop. He’s been his usual self the entire time we’ve been here. I was running low on his favourite hay so went to the local pet stores; there are only two in this town. One had no rabbit hay at all, just pellets, and the other didn’t have much variety. I bought him a bag of Pasture Hay – it seems similar to his old type but longer cut.
He won’t touch it. He’s still eating his greens very happily, and dove into his hay when I put a small amount of the remaining old type on top, but he stopped eating it once that was gone and only the new hay remained. He is definitely being sulky about it all.
I’ll be going home tomorrow so I can buy him the stuff he likes then – will he be okay without it for the 24 hours or so if I just add more veggies? (I will have the hay there of course, but I just don’t think he will eat it).
or should I not give in to his picky diet at all?
