  I have had my bunny, Lenny, for a few months now, and I’m just curious to see what other rabbit owners do and find/like best when it comes to food and feeders.
  
  What’s your favorite brands and types of hay? What about with pellets? I use to love the Kaytee (I believe) hay brand, but I feel like all it is is little bits of hay and dust! There are a few large clumps of good hay, but why am I paying for only a few good clumps?
  
  I have a hay rack for his hay, but I despise it since all it does is get hay all over the floor of his cage and the carpet. I also use a bowl for the tiny bits, so I’m wondering which people use there too.
  
  My major question is, what am I suppose to do when I travel? My boyfriend lives 2 hours away, and I’ll usually spend the weekend with him once or twice a month. I usually leave Lenny with a gravity feeder full of pellets and tons and tons of hay wherever I can put it because I don’t want him to die. I just want to know what other people do as well that I could possibly look in to.

  Can you take Lenny with you, or does he have to stay behind? I ask because I have had a few weekend health scares with my rabbits, and had I not been there, I wouldn’t have seen them hunched in a corner, not eating (there is the whole 12-24 hr window where things can go downhill if the rabbit doesn’t eat or poop or drink). Having him a smaller cage for the weekend, and with you is probably better than him being alone, especially since you visit your b/f on a regular basis. That’s one suggestion, other than finding a neighbour, etc for bunny sitting.
  
  I have a handmade fabric haybag, and I love it. It’s lightweight, minimal mess, and holds a lot. I use it for 2 rabbits, and so far, it’s held up.
  
  I order first cut timothy hay online from a farm in my state. I have ordered from another company, but that one had way more dust. I shake it out before I fill up the haybag, and that seems to work. I wouldn’t buy store bought hay nowadays. Plus, my rabbits like a coarser, greener hay, and I like that I can buy a bigger quantity.

  He unfortunately has to stay until my boyfriend moves into his new place this summer. Then, Lenny will actually be spending the semester up with him! I’ll definitely see what I can do with the travelling. If I go away for more than 2 nights, I have my co-workers come check on him. I’m hating the store bought hay more and more, so I’ll have to check out any local farmers. He loves the coarser hay too, and it doesn’t make as much of a mess.
  
  Is it cheap to buy local and in bulk like that too?

  That’s good he has people to check up on him. Well, summer is just around the corner , so hopefully your b/f doesn’t mind becoming a Bunny Slave, haha (I just had a thought of when Princess Leia was a slave in Star Wars).
  Yes, it is cheaper to buy in bulk rather than store bought, and some don’t charge for shipping.
