Today, as I previously mentioned, Toffee had to go to the vet. He has been having runny eyes and nose… For a few weeks. Finally we found a rabbit-savvy vet.
Toffee’s got a respiratory infection – AKA snuffles.
Vet told me he may not survive because he’s so old. I put him in his hutch (no pen for him until he’s better…) with a hefty amount of pellets and Timothy hay as well as filling his bottle completely up. His bottle was about a quarter full before, it’s not that he didn’t have water – but I have to make sure he doesn’t run out. He also had hay, I just stocked up his pile. He had his pellets, too, but I topped off his bowl.
He has to have an injection of anti-biotics every day. Administered by us.
When we got back from the vet, he gave me quite a few thumps and gave me the bunny butt for about five minutes before he decided he wanted to love on me again. He’s safely in his cage right now, with plenty of food and water.
Sorry for bringing up such a depressing topic, by the way. I know The Lounge is usually positive, and I may have put a cloud of gloom on it. But hey, support is necessary in these kinds of situations!
