Sooner or later, everyone is going to be faced with the problem of giving your bunny medicine. Giving bunny medicine with a syringe into the mouth is almost always going to be a fight.
My suggestion is to prepare ahead of time when bunny doesn’t need medicine.This is what worked for us;
Every morning, give bunny a banana slice. About 1 inch thick. I’ve had three bunnies now that were/are addicted to morning banana slices. When the fateful day comes that you have to give bunny medicine, for instance Metacam in the first instance for us, cut a conical depression in the banana slice with a sharp knife. You can easily get 1 1/2 ml of medicine into the depression. Liquid medicines for rabbits are sweetened. Then give bunny the banana slice spiked with the medicine. My first rabbit would start eating the banana and also lick the medicine…later she would lick the medicine first before eating the banana!!! I gave our rabbit Medacam daily for several years with just no trouble!! About bananas…My experience, rabbits do not like ripe bananas. The perfect banana will have a yellow and green skin. Rabbits like their bananas a little on the tart side. Also, when you treat bunny to a banana slice, cut off a bigger piece for yourself!
