Hey!
Jasper went in for his first check up with the vet yesterday since we adopted him a week or two ago. It turns out he has mites! Other than that “he’s so handsome and what a great personality.”
My vet set us up on a course of invermectin injections. One every ten days for a total of three injections.
I’ve googled and googled harder than I’ve ever googled and there isn’t really any resource on how to clean to prevent mites for a house rabbit.
Jasper is cage free when we are home but spends time in his xpen too. We have wood floors and lots of rugs. So how would you start to clean and how thoroughly? I took all his stuff into the tub while all the fabrics were going through the wash. I washed everything with hot water and a all natural dish soap and rinsed and dried. Wiped down the cage bars lightly and I tried vacuuming but we just have a little like dust buster.
I want to be a crazy person and like strip down everything burn it. I want to wear different clothes when interacting with jasper then burn them after. Do I need to vacuum and wash places he hasn’t been such as on the couch? But I could have brought eggs in there or something. SOoo any advice or reassurance would be great! Thanks!. Oh also we got some ear drops for the dog so she’s being treated at the same time.
