  Hi all,
  
  So our precious bun may have ingested some ancient bourbon biscuit last night, while raiding through the underside of my (idiotic) brother’s bed. I didnt see any nibble marks on the biscuit nor any crumbs around the room to indicate he may have actually eaten some but the worry is still there.
  
  We’re keeping a hawks’ eye on him- so far so okay and its almost 12 hours later. His poops right after the incident were just fine but his morning poops are small and one bunch even strung together (pic below) – but that’s happened before this too so hard to say whether its related.
  
  Obviously this calls for a vet visit/call so we’ll be doing that later today regardless, but if anyone has any similar experiences with their bun and how it went, please let us know.

  While sugar & choc is not great for their gut, it’s not toxic. Don’t be too concerned. The strung together poops may be because he ingested some human hair or his fur from normal grooming . It’s a good thing if you’re seeing it coming out. Is he shedding more fur at the moment?
  How are his hay eating habits? Hay and water are best if you have any concerns about how well his gut is moving.

  His hay habits are the same as always and his water intake too. Since he’s very fluffy, he seems to have fur shedding practically all the time but these days it looks to be shedding even more abundantly – I usually take a lint-roller to him which gets the job done okay. That said, there are places he wont allow the lint roller to go (stomach/underside) and Ive seen him groom there frequently – so that may well be the reason for the stringy poos. Is it okay that theyre not strung together with fluff but with more fecal matter(TMI sorry)?
  
  Also, Ive read that chocolate IS toxic for them? Although the biscuits are choc-flavoured so not exactly the same thing.
  
  I’ll check with the vet whether a dose or two of fibreplex wouldnt be a good idea, for better gut movement.
  
  His behaviour otherwise is the same as always….lounging, eating and pooping
  
  Here’s hoping its much-ado over nothing (as all our previous scares have been) – and getting that nuisance sibling to keep his damn door shut at all times!

  Mmm, a quick google search shows me some sources that do say it’s toxic. It’s never been something that has sprung to my mind as a big issue like it can be for dogs. I have read of other bunnies having gotten to chocolate and being okay. It’s good you’re aware and watching for any changes.

  Chocolate is toxic but I think I’ve read that buns can tolerate more per kg body weight than dogs can. Anyway, it all depends on the amount of cacao in the chocolate. White chocolate is harmless (except it’s fat and sugary of course) because it doesn’t have the toxic component, theobromin. The worst thing is very dark chocolate, with like 70-97% cocoa content. I don’t think the cocoa content of chocolate flavoured bisquits comes anywhere near that.
  
  Hay and water is the eternal mantra for buns that have eaten sth that isn’t really toxic but still sth they shouldn’t have.
  
  Stringy poop is typical of a shedding bun. You’re doing what you can to keep his fur in check, I too lint-roll my buns but I’ve never even dared try going neir their sacred tummies with the roller. I doubt they’d approve.
