Both are spayed/neutered. We had Neelix for 6 months before we took him to our local rabbit rescue organization and had him bonded by the pros at another house in a neutral territory. While they were gone we threw out all of Neelix’s old stuff so they had as neutral territory as possible to come home to.
Now they’re home and Neelix is being his usual tidy self, but Mackenzie (new one) keeps peeing (and pooping, but not the big issue). They live in a puppy x-pen. We started with a jumbo litterbox and added a second large litterbox in the first spot we caught her peeing, but she just started peeing next to it, and then in a second spot. I spray the areas down with vinegar every day or two but that doesn’t seem to deter. We also vacuum up their cage a few times a day to make sure she can distinguish between the clean cage bottom and the litter-filled boxes. We’re only letting them out a couple times a day for 10-20 minutes at a time until she gets better, but when she’s out she doesn’t mark at all. She goes in the boxes sometimes, but it seems only when it’s more convenient.
What else can we do? Because she’s new I don’t even know how much is marking or just not knowing how to use a litterbox.
Thank you!
