  Soooo bunny seems wobbly and not herself though loving her pet pets and eating fine. Noticed one eye is bigger. I’m freaked out thinking the worst. She did topple down the stairs the other day so I thought maybe she hurt a leg or something but then I saw the eye. Perhaps that’s why she toppled down the stairs. I can’t pay to go find out she has some brain tumor….any advice? Not sure what to do but just keep an eye on her and love on her.

  Balance issues could mean any number of things. It could be a result of eye injury that has made her more unstable as she struggles to adjust to the altered vision that it may have presented. It could also be an ear infection or E. cuniculi which is a parasite, although often with E.c there will be a head tilt before there are balance issues that result from the tilt. There could be an ulcer, or overgrown tooth roots behind the eye which is causing it to swell, and probably many other things that I’m not familiar with. It any case she needs to see a vet, I know you said you can’t pay just to find something out, but that’s just part of pet ownership and taking care of our pets. Balance issues are no joke and neither are ulcers, an untreated ulcer is life threatening, as is an untreated case of E.c.

  Absolutely. If anything, the vet can provide a med like metacam that gives pain relied and is anti-inflammatory. I believe that would help a lot and even stop things compounding. (A rabbit in pain will often go into gut stasis and stop eating). Rabbits can handle higher doses of metacam then used to be given. 0.3 – 0.6mg / kg. Any thing less is not worth it IMO.

  Aw crap. She is eating and otherwise happy. My gut tells me it’s muscular from her fall the other day. We never meant to own a pet….we rescued her and couldn’t find a home and learned how to care for her. But yes….I know….it’s part of the responsibility. I was hoping for an easy explanation. Argh. I’ve wondered too if the eye thing has always been there….i don’t spend much time staring at her eyes. Lol. Or I’m justifying.
