  Hi everyone, first off let me just say that I am a first time bunny owner.. I’m very new at this and I just got my first bunny for Christmas, and I’m still trying to get the hang of taking care of her. But anyways, I have a 4 month old female rabbit named Leia! I was told that she is a Holland Lop, but I’m starting to doubt that considering how big she is getting, and she has very large ears that just stick straight up But regardless of what she is, I love her. Anyways, just recently I moved her and her cage into a whole room just for her! I couldn’t have her free roam in my bedroom without my supervision because of all of the cords and stuff that she likes to chew on, and i can’t have her free roam the rest of my house because i have a dog and two cats who wouldn’t get along with her very well. I felt awful keeping her in the cage for most of the day while I’m not at home or don’t have time to sit and let her run around for a couple hours..So, I have cleaned out a spare bedroom for her and have her in there with her cage door open so she can enter and exit as she pleases.. I’m just looking for any suggestions that you bunny professionals may have.. Should I let her roam around that room freely all night? Or should I put her in the cage over night? Also, I’m just wondering simply, if she will be okay in there by herself? I know that running around a room alone all day is better than being in a cage alone all day.. But I worry that she will get bored or lonely in a room all by herself with the door closed.. she has her cage, food, water, hay, and some treats.. but I just worry that she wont be happy in there all alone.. I can’t keep the door open because of my other pets, and my cats can jump clear over a baby gate. So does anyone have and toy suggestions or any kind of ideas that might keep her entertained throughout the day? Keep in mind that I do go in and check on her frequently and talk to her and spend some time with her when I can. So does anyone have any answers to my questions? And with that, any simple suggestions to keep my bun bun happy in her room? Thanks so much!!!

  Is the room bunny proofed? How is her litter box training? As long as it’s safe and she’s using her box, you can allow her the space.
  Oh and for a friend, try a stuffed animal. Mine seems to think they are super tolerant buddies

  I have taken up any cords or little things she could chew on in the room. So pretty much it’s just one big empty room with all of her stuff in it, including this little shelf she likes to lay in :p and since her cage is open for her to come in and out of, she has just been pottying in the one corner of her cage that she has always used, which I don’t mind because I clean her cage daily anyways and thank you for the stuffed animal tip! I will definitely give her one tomorrow that’s about her size and see what she thinks of it I just hope that she won’t try to chew him to peices! haha

  Chewie has full access to the whole flat 24/7 and is ok. As Kokanee said, as long as the room is bunny proof, she should be fine.
  In addition to the stuffy, you might want to also try getting her a lightweight ball about as big as she is. A beach ball or one of those cheap little colourful kids’ balls – I find that both Chewie and my foster buns when I have any with us LOVE to run around it, herding it from place to place. It’s great exercise and they look like they’re having lots of fun.

  I would not have trusted Bandit to free range for extended periods of time without supervision. Any time it happened accidentally he ALWAYS destroyed something, this included house fixtures that couldn’t always be protected. During supervised play time he would never do any of that stuff and was usually a perfect angel. For Bandit’s own safety and my peace of mind, he was always put back in his condo at night time and when I was at work.
  
  That being said, each rabbit is different and some are perfect house guests that don’t destroy anything when left out on a permanent basis, so it really depends on the rabbit. You still need to bunny proof as much as you can (especially power cords). But it certainly can be done, and you really won’t know until you try.

  Don’t forget to protect carpet and baseboards! Mine LOVE baseboards. Holy moly. You can put cardboard in front of the baseboards, or NIC cubes (the room will look a bit weird, I know, and it is a lot of work). But still, you never know what they like to destroy till it actually happens. You can also put chew-safe stuff in there, or the BinkyBunny maze/ cottage (mine LOVE them both). Old cardboard boxes (remove tape or staples) can be turned into playhouses, etc. And it’s good to swap stuff out periodically, so they don’t get bored.

  Thank you all so much for getting back to me!! I think I’m just going to work on getting her some different toys and things to keep her entertained I’ve decided that I am going to put her away at night because she does like to dig at the carpet and things like that. But I will keep her out for hours every day I certainly hope she will stay happy
