        Hello all

My rabbit has a sore on his rear paw. I was wondering if i could apply some aloe vera pulp (natural form )on it.

        Thank you all

        Toby

I’d be interested to know as well. I was wondering about this when I walked past a gorgeous aloe at the plant nursery the other day.
I’ve just read so much conflicting information on the internet. :/

To the best of my knowledge, aloe vera is toxic to rabbits. I have heard that either Bag Balm, or Bepanthen can be safely used.

You can also try the natural ointments made by gorgeous guineas, I’ve heard good things about them: http://shop.gorgeousguineas.com/ointments-11-c.asp

I too think aloe vera can be toxic to rabbits. It’s of course mostly if they ingest it but I don’t think I’d risk it. Diaper rash cream can be used for sore hocks, as well as bag balm and in some cases neosporin cream (plain, not the type with an added painkiller.)

If your rabbit has an open sore on his hocks (the part of the foot that has contact with the floor), he should be seen by a vet. You also need to change his flooring to something softer that still has good grip.
