Our dutch rabbit has recently (a few hours ago) started squinting his right eye. He can open it fine when he does open it, and his eye looks a little darker than normal (theyre a light brown, normally). I dont see any tears, dirt, or scratches. Theres no goop around his eyes. He doesnt seem in pain and he seems to see fine even when he squints it. He does have seasonal allergies that have started acting up, is this part of it? Were taking one of our other buns to the vet to be neutered on Wednesday; should i bring it up to the vet and see what she has for advice?

The only times he opens his eye is when there is food in sight, or he is being held (he loves cuddles and wont stop chattering when hes held and pet)

He let me wipe his face with a warm damp wash cloth but it didnt seem to change anything. I did however find out something ive never seen before: his pupil on the squinted eye doesnt change. Its also very small. I took him into a dark room for several minutes and his left pupil got bigger but his right pupil stayed small

I don’t want to frighten you, but I would see a vet asap…. Or at least talk to one on the phone. Lack of pupil dilation is not a good thing in any mammal. It generally suggests head (or eye) injury.

I saw some posts like that while googling around, but the posts all said it was obvious the bunny was in pain when they poked around the eye lid. Badger doesnt seem to care/notice when i poke at all, he just looks at me confused. Theres no swelling either, or goop around his eye which has me confused. I did read something about Horners Syndrome which sounds similar to what Badger seems to be going through. I will definitely call me vet when they are open. They are closed for Easter today so i will be calling them on Monday. Thank you!

Thank you! As of now, his eye is fine. Im wondering if he hurt it in some way while we were sleeping. Were still going to call and talk to the vet tomorrow and set up an appointment if she thinks we need to. And of course, if i see his eye being weird again, ill make an appointment
