Hi! Miss Daisy Duke is the newest member of our family after my beloved Bun Bun passed.

We just got home from her spay and I’m struggling with how to protect her incision site. She licked it overnight and irritated it so they gave her an e-collar, but it’s the most adorably sad thing ever. I tried to put a little shirt/sock on her but she freaked out and I couldn’t get it on all the way. She’s still getting used to me so I can’t exactly get her to stay still. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips?

        Thanks!!

Keep the e-collar on, it’s only a few days. You could take it off when supervised for some out time or to ensure she’s eating and drinking, but that’s what’s going to keep the incision clean and uneaten.

I agree with K&K, just have to say it does look adorably sad =/ With an emphasize on adorable!

When you can supervise her all the time she can go without the e-collar if you see no tendencies to over-interest in her incision, but you can’t leave her to herself without the collar. Did the vet give you painkillers for her? Sometimes pain will make a bunny lick/bite at an incisision-site. Bunnies need a higher dose metacam (meloxicam) than previously thought, they metabolize metacam faster than f ex dogs.
