Not all buns get terrible during puberty =) Some male buns never go through a troublesome puberty and can be left intact. Girls should be spayed for health-reasons, though, regardless of behavior.

You can neuter a bunny when his testicles drops or when your vet is comfortable to do the procedure. The HRS says anything from around 12 weeks is ok, but some vets want to wait a bit longer.

Seconding that not all buns are bad during puberty! My mini rex’s personality didnt change other than he had a need to hump things often. He used his foot for this so it didnt really affect anything or anyone else. My dutch isnt in full blown puberty yet, but hes started. He nibbles sometimes and likes to dig, but a simple “no” and redirect with greens is helping him out a lot so far. The only terrible bun we have is our netherland dwarf who digs, nips, mounts, and full on terrorizes everyone on “bad” days. Were trying to get him neutered but his blood tests are coming back not right so we have to keep waiting. But anyway, it all depends on the bun themself how bad puberty will be. I wouldnt be too worried

Different vets do it at different times. Some feel better waiting until after a specific age, while some are fine doing it at any age as soon as the testicles have dropped. Youll want to go to your bunny vet and get a blood test done first. Ask your vet what age/when they feel comfortable to do the surgery. Ask them about their fail/success rate (never go to a vet that has a success rate lower than 99percent). Youll want to talk to the vet about the procedure a little bit like will it be glued or stitched? If stitched, will they dissolve or will they be the kind that needs to be removed? Any medications/pain killers after the surgery?

Agree with the others. My boy’s only bad behavior was humping everything. The destructiveness I find is more of a young bunny thing than a hormonal thing. Most young bunnies are destructive, neutered or not.
