Everyone says that spaying will help because a lot of it is territorial.

I had Harlow completely litter trained in three days. But since her spay a week ago, that has all gone down the drain.
I’ve been trying to be patient. Scooping them up as soon as I see them! Rabbit’s are SO smart and catch on fast.

Hopefully it’s one of those “it gets worse before it gets better” things. She has her first pee accident after her spay (didn’t even pee on her fleece the first night of making the switch from paper bedding) and has had many more since. Someone said it’s her re-claiming her territory so-to-speak. I changed her fleece earlier today and washed down the water-resistant sheet underneath. She hasn’t peed on the new fleece yet but there have been many poops. A lot in her litter box! So I can’t really complain.

My experiences with Harlow this past week makes me believe that we’re starting this process all over again.

Not sure, but I’m guessing it will get somewhat better. My Steven never used the tiny litter box in his cage corner when he spent most of the time in there. However, once I allowed him free run of part of the house he began to only use his cage to potty and get to the water bottle. I would still see little pellets here and there but not much.
My experience is very little with these cute creatures but I guess it’s just the sort of thing where the more stories you read/hear then the more you know what may or may not be normal. Hope you gradually get this figured out to where it works for all.

It’s really hard to litter box train intact bunnies. It usually works very well until the bun hits puberty – and then the hormone-driven irressistible urge to pee and poop-mark enters the stage and makes the bun “forget” it’s good litterbox habits. It’s not sth you can train the bun not to do, really. De-sexing is your best chance of getting a bun to stick to the litterbox, but you’ll have to accept a few stray poops here and there I’m afraid.

I had the same experience with my first bun as Ehmer1 had with her Steven: My Bam ignored the corner litter-box in his cage while he was a cage-bunny but took to going in it once he became free roam. Bunnies like big litter-boxes.

lunavenus, it’s correct that unspayed female bunnies have a high risk of uterine cancer around 3-4 years of age, the risk then increases further with age. Many vets won’t want to spay a girl bun before the age of 6 months though, and for health-reasons it doesn’t need to be done sooner.
