My two rabbits are currently living in a two story hutch in an unused horse stall in our barn. Since we live in Colorado they have a heated water bowl, heated water bottle (one of them prefers the bottle), and a big heat pad. (The floor of the hutch is wire and the heat pad is under that so they can’t chew it. And the wire is covered by a towel to protect their feet). They make it through the winter no problem, but after reading up on the benefits I want to move them inside.
The room I want to move them into has a carpeted floor and some wires (a lava lamp, a regular lamp, and a laptop’s charging cord), There’s also a wooden desk, a wheeled chair, a trash basket, a bed, and a wooden bookshelf. I don’t know what kinds of wood any of these are. I want to move their entire hutch in there and maybe get an x pen or have supervised play time. Since x pens are expensive I probably wouldn’t be getting one for another couple months, so I need help on protecting the furniture and carpet. The wires can be moved out of the rabbits’ reach if need be, so I don’t know if there’s a type of covering that can be used on the desk’s legs and the bookshelf’s base or what.
I forgot to mention earlier that both rabbits are litter trained, but does anyone know a good hay rack that isn’t very messy?
Thanks,
Beetiza
