You’ll find plenty of people here with de-sexed male buns! The benefits are mostly related to behavior, the main physical health- benefit I think is stress-reduction: an intact bunny that wants to mate but can’t find a mate can get very stressed and that’s if course hard on the system. Not all intact male will have that level of sex-drive though, esp if you have no other pets. For those, the main health benefit is they can’t get testicular cancer, but that is a rare form of cancer in bunnies.
Changes in sexually driven behavior is to be expected. F ex his honking and following you around can mean that he’s courting you. If that’s the case, it will go away after a neuter. Stuff like pee and poop marking and humping and territorial aggression can also go away – and that’s often what we want and the reason why we have our boys desexed. But as a rule the personality doesn’t change.
I have 2 neutered boys and they are both very affectionate and loving.
Boys heal quickly after a neuter, you restrict their moving around for 2-3 days (more if the vet says so of course), then they can be allowed to have play-time again.

Ditto on what Bam said. The other thing that desexing can help is — some males have pungent urine, and that will get better with neutering.

I agree that the honking and following you around is “courting” behavior. I bet he circles too? And while it is adorable and makes us feel loved to have a bunny be so interested, it can be stressful for a bun who is looking to be sexually active.

After about a month, when the hormones begin to die down, you may see the honking and following in such urgency to slow down or stop, but the affection should still be there.

That sounds like excitement to me. Courting is usually going around in circles and making like a buzzing sound. My neutered male sometimes does this right before he “gets friendly” with a stuffed bunny.

Yes, I agree — That is excitement! That’s actually called a binky! or Binkying! My bunny does this too in the mornings — as she knows I’m bringing greens and affection. It’s so darn cute! And she is over 6 years old — and has been spayed for ages. How cute! You will have to take a video and show us.
