I love pet names! I always put a great deal of consideration into names. Not going to get into all my childhood pet’s names because that would go on forever but some of my more recent Bridge Babies were named:
Bunnies:
Stormy- He was a harlequin and his colour reminded me of the sky right after a thunderstorm when the sun is starting to come out.
Velvet
Vanilla Bean
Kitty:
Nefera – Ancient Egyptian for beautiful because she was and I’m a history nut
Horse:
Tova- from the Russian word “Tovarish” meaning friend. She was my first horse horse and I wanted us to be best friends.
Well, this is a challenge! I’m going to include some of my parent’s past pets, as they used to talk about them so vividly that I felt like they were also my pets.
Tweedle and Clementine were the two Netherland Dwarfs who lived outside and were not bonded. Tweedle was the dominant one. (I know, my parents were not very knowledgeable about rabbits.)
Scooter was the Netherland Dwarf from when I was very, very young and lived inside. He lived for eight years and passed away unexpectedly.
Pete, named after the coffee shop, a grey kitten who my parents rescued from a pound. He passed away from a disease that later killed Tweedle… ![]()
Cinnamon was my Holland Lop bun, who was six when she passed away from unexpected lung cancer. I still miss her so much. ![]()
Butternut and Squash, my two Golden Comet chickens. Squash passed away unexpectedly about four months ago, and Butternut is still seeking love from her humans…. poor thing.
Scout, my poor, beloved kitten. I rescued him from a pet shop. He was 1/2 pound because he wasn’t eating enough… my dog killed him. I should’ve known that she wouldn’t do well with him. I cried so hard and I miss him today. ![]()
I think that’s all. I’m probably missing a lot! But I haven’t had many pets in the past, even though I LOVE animals. I probably have more on this list somewhere.
Lovely LPT ![]()
She looks very regal in the picture.
Cats
Pumpkin, was my first pet. I got him after one of our other cats ran away. He was an orange kitten. I got him on Halloween. I came home from school (I was in preschool or kindergarten) and my mother said “There’s a pumpkin on your bed!” of course I was confused and was in no rush to see my “pumpkin” but my mother convinced me to go look, and there I saw him sleeping on my pillow.
I then named him Pumpkin.
Crooky, my cat who was born with a crooked tail.
Starlight and Pepper were both my sister’s cats.
Lucky was our Siamese cat.
Maggie Mae, Was a calico cat we got from the animal shelter. She ran away and came back 7 months later. (not skinny at all and had no fleas, and had a glossy coat) which led us to believe she had a second home. She ran away and we never saw her again.
Sorena a cat we had for a few years, before eventually giving her up because she had a lot of behavior problems (like climbing onto the counter and peeing on our clean dishes) because she didn’t like our other cat we had first.
Spring was our loving cat we had for about 8 years. We got her from the shelter so we don’t know how old she was when she died. She passed away August 9th 2015.
Dogs
Cocoa was our golden retriever mix. She was a great dog. Some nasty kids let her out of our backyard on purpose and she got hit by a car and died. ![]()
![]()
SKY, was our golden retriever GSD mix. We rescued him from a shelter, where he was about to be put down. He had been abused and surrendered as a FEMALE dog named Skyla. He was a boy and we called him Sky. He was a great dog, lived until about 15 and died of a ruptured internal tumor.
LILY was our Catahoula leopard dog. She was abandoned as a puppy and would follow my mother and my older sister as they walked to school. Eventually she followed them home and we took her in.
Other species
PANDA was our black and white gerbil. He passed of old age
MR. RAINBOW FINS was a shiner bait fish we rescued. He lived about 7 years.
TANGI a sun conure who was very sick when we got her. She died 2 weeks after she came to us.
RAVEN, JELLY BEAN, HAPPY FEET, PEANUT, FLUFFENUTTER were our ducks.

Tilly, Paris, Zero, Snickers (dogs)
Cleopatra (cat)
Moxie (Rabbit)
