I have a huge Xpen set up for Chomondeley when I get home and can let him out of his regular-sized Xpen to play. I think he enjoys simply binkying around, but are there any ideas for other things I can put in there? He has a box that he doesn’t really go into, and I don’t have many ramps or bunny furniture… but I do have a LOT of cardboard!! Any suggestions for things I can create myself, or cheap things I can buy? Thanks!!

Bunnies love Cardboard boxes, if they chew them its OK because it helps to keep teeth worn down, no sticky tape, no staples, it can cause big problems, you could make a little tunnel with cardboard, Olly just likes a box, he will make it to what he wants it to be, sometime he has a new box and he takes everything out of his cage (Toys) and puts them in a box, if he likes carrying things cotton cloths are nice, maybe an old washed towel cut into squares or an old T-shirt, toilet rolls are fun stuffed with hay and 1 or 2 raisins inside too

Thanks Pinky! I did some of your ideas and he loves his playground now even more I think. He loves his cardboard boxes and toilet paper rolls!

Maybe he would like a cat ball, a big hard plastic one with a bell inside, Olly loves his, maybe BB has something like that in the store, if not a Dollar shop may have some.

This is on my To Do list for my kiddo’s, so I thought I’d share this awesome vid:

I wouldn’t use wooden clothes pins because those things fall apart easily, and they have metal springs which bunnies may eat.

Haha Pinky, yes, you are a genius! Chomondeley does have a big cat ball, I got it at the grocery store, it was a pack of three. Love4Bunny, watched the videos, I am definitely inspired!! Thanks you guys!!

Here’s a box castle I made for my trio, I ended up zip-tying some of the boxes together or to the xpen, but there’s some that fit snugly together or have cardboard flaps I just pushed into another hole in another box. You could try and make an elaborate box castle, too.

That is one awesome box castle! I was looking for some ideas like this for a while now, and yours really stands out!

And oh! The dollar store has some tunnels that my buns enjoy a lot! I have 2 and just connected them together to make one long tunnel.  And I find that they don’t like the store-bought toys, so I just give them toilet paper rolls and cardboard boxes and they have been content ever since. They unfortunately also consider my wooden bed frame as a toy, so there’s that… I also bought this treat ball thing meant for cats, but they absolutely love it. It basically dispenses treats (their pellets) while they roll it around trying to catch it, plus they get some exercise out of it. It’s funny because sometimes they get frustrated and fling the ball around. They are silly buns.

So awesome, Bunny Daddy! Your buns sure are lucky!

I agree with LittlePuffyTail, Bunny Daddy! It’s a bunny kingdom! I’m sure Chomondeley would enjoy it. And MellowBilbo, those sound like great ideas, I’ll have to stop by the dollar store soon. Thanks!

You can get boxes for free, talk to them in the stores when they are stocking the shelves, or if there is a shop that sells crisps (Chips) ask if they can save you some boxes or if they have some boxes that they don’t want, my friend saves boxes for Olly, he puts the crisps (Chips) on the shelves and takes off the sticky tape and folds them up and puts them in the back of the shop, no harm in asking because they are only going to throw them away and if they get too many it attracts vermin or spiders, so they are glad to get rid of them, but if they get them from outside, make sure they haven’t been in the rain, check for spiders and eggs, we have to be careful now in England in the UK.

Wonderful! People in my neighborhood often throw out huge cardboard boxes… I like to rescue them before they get wet, if they look appropriate for Chomondeley’s use!

Great! But if they are in a yard always ask first if you can have them because I know here if I just took a box out of someone’s yard I would be in trouble for trespassing, not for taking the box, also always look out for bugs spiders and eggs, they like to go under box flaps, I warned a friend of mine who worked in a charity shop, he told me I was right, there was a spider with her eggs under the flap of a box.
Wish my neighbours would throw out the really big boxes, could do with some to store some junk.
Love the little signs on Bunny Daddy’s castle, lol Fort Bun and No Hooman great stuff.

Also just be careful where you get your boxes from. I get mine from a home improvement store, but I always make sure that I only use boxes that have contained “dry” things only. For example, boxes for paint brushes, chairs, coolers, tools etc. But never boxes that have had paint, cleaning chemicals, or garden chemicals in them, especially things like rat bait.

For a single day you could turn it into a maze. Make cardboard walls and so forth that leads to a treat or something at the end!

That’s fine Lain! I only use boxes that are plain and take the tape off. And Chom doesn’t chew on them much. Bunny Daddy, thank you again for sharing your pics The playground you set up is wonderful.
