So my buns had a pretty big fight last week. One tore a massive strip of skin off the other. Took her to the vet and the vet said there was no exposed muscle and shouldn’t need stitches.
So we went home and today, I was looking at it and it looks like she has piled hair on top of the wound? Is this normal? Should I be trying to cut it out or wash it or something?? This is my first bun injury so I’m not too sure how they deal with them.

Don’t worry, they don’t usually fight, had a visitor who had just come from the pet store and was snuggling the buns there and apparently my two were put off by the smells! Ack!

I’ve tried to include a pic of the wound so you can see what I’m talking about, but for some reason I am unable to

Thank you so very much in advance for any help or advice I get!!

Oi-I would give the vet clinic a call-I think it’s best that they stay on your case and provide advice as you go along as they saw it and will know what’s up. Most people don’t know, but you aren’t required to go in when you just have questions-you were already seen and I’ll bet they’ll chat by phone and let you know what you are seeing and what to do. In fact many vets have email and you could likely even email the picture you took!

Keep us posted on how she’s recovering

It’s probably ooey from being “skinned”. Things will stick to it until it officially scabs over. Did the vet give you any ointment for it? I agree with KK, you can often call the vet to ask questions and to clarify what you should be doing.
