I was with my friend and I picked up my bunny Juju to show her and my friend freaked a little and screamed and Juju got scared and jumped from my arms. But she accidentally scratched me (the inside part of my lips and face) when she scrambled to get down. Is there an precautions I should take? I just washed my face with warm water and I’m planning on buying some rubbing alcohol to disinfect it.

I’ve never had more than a red welt from a bunny scratch. And I believe that is because of the timothy hay on their nails, which I’m allergic to. Things have been better since I got some orchard grass for them. Anyway, I don’t think you need to worry. It isn’t like a cat scratch where nasty bacteria could be lurking. If you washed the area, then I’m sure it will be fine.

I totally second LBJ. It’s not at all as bad to get a scratch from a bunny, or even a bite, as it is from a cat, rabbits don’t have the bad bacteria that cats have since buns aren’t meat-eaters. I’ve been bitten and scratched but never had any reaction from it (except the marks you’d expect, of course). You can use mouth-wash with alcohol in it or just leave it, I seriously doubt you’ll have any problem with it. Washing your face should be quite sufficient.
