        Hi guys!

Paget got spayed on Wednesday. She’s doing very well! She ate the evening she got home and pooped some little poops. She’s now back to eating her full amount of veges and about half or less of her usual pellet amount. Drinking A LOT of water.

The first night and half the next day her temperature was very weird, her ears were sometimes warm and sometimes cool. I gave her a water bottle wrapped in a town but she just pushed it away. Today her ears have been warm all day and since its summer here I have the AC on. I have her confined to a smaller, single level NIC “cage” in my bedroom at the moment so that I can keep an eye on her. Been using her carrier (with the door removed) as her litter box since there’s a low entry way she can walk into.

I’m wondering how long she needs to be confined and when she can safely go back in her 2 level condo and jump into her normal litter box again. (I’ve attached a photo of her normal litter box height)

She has 3 staples in her at the moment and the site looks ok, not red or swollen, in fact, the staples are quite loose, is this normal?
She has been quite scared since coming home, sometimes ducks away when I try to pet her

I guess I’m just a bit worried at the moment, she’s been lying in her litter too which she never used to do.
Would love any advice/reassurance or any comments really. Thank you!

Here she is the evening after her spay:

Also does anyone know what breed she could possibly be?
She weighed in at 1.7kgs at the vets and they couldnt tell me what breed, Im wondering if she’s overweight…?

It looks like she is a  Dutch mix. Dutch rabbits will have the band of white around their neck/shoulders and the area of white from their nose up their forehead. Your bunny doesn’t have as big of an area of white in both places, so she is likely a mix.  The rabbit in my avatar is a Dutch, a past rabbit of mine, and she did look overweight in that photo.  Sometimes they can look that way, even if they aren’t.

I went to a conversion site and it said that 1.7kgs is 3 pounds. That would be low for a Dutch rabbit, but maybe she isn’t full grown. They are normally 4 to 5.5 pounds.

She shouldn’t be jumping around for a couple of weeks. None of my rabbits have ever had staples, so I don’t know if being loose is a problem. Go ahead and call your vet to see what he or she says about that. When will you be going back to have the staples removed? If you have a shorter litter pan, even if it’s just a cardboard box that you can cut down, that might make it easier for her, or you could just keep using the carrier until she has healed more and the staples have been removed.
