I’ve heard of rabbits refusing a water bottle, but my bunny is refusing the bowl/crock.

Ideally I would like him to drink out of both so that if he knocks over one he has the option of the other. I also feel like it’s a lot of work for him to drink out of the bottle.

Any ideas on how to get him to drink out of a bowl?

You could try a small amount of juice in the water such as apple juice to tempt him. Otherwise I would simply continue to leave it in his cage (along with the bottle) and eventually he may simply start to use it on his own.

Thanks. I’ll try that, but I have doubts it will work. Interestingly enough my boy does not like sugary things. He won’t eat carrots or apples or any other fruit treat. I rely on Oxbow Timothy Treats. He loves those things.

I have had a boy lionhead for about 4 years now and have never seen him drink water. When a bowl of water is put in its cage it just sits there until it evaporates. His “wife” had a sister who was the exact same way.

All my rabbits do get plenty of greens, especially kale. It is very cheap and probably the boy gets all the water he needs from it. If all else fails just feed your rabbit greens and that will probably be fine, after all bunnies can live in the Australian desert so they must be able to get by on just a little water.

What’s funny is I thought he would never drink water either right when he came home. Took him a week to start drinking out of the bottle, and now he does all the time. I was adding a little water to the greens to get him by.

I’ve read on some websites that rabbits drink as much as a small dog, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

4 years with no water. Crazy! But if he’s fine I guess it’s all good. Haha
