  Today my Holland lop Delta performed a binky on slick atrium tile (slick as compared to her usual flooring) by following me in there when the door wasopen and afterwards she hopped “funny”. I brought her in, confined her in a small exercise pen away from other bunnies to observe her. This only happened a couple hours ago. Now, she is still not right. When she hops, she doesn’t hop,she stretches her body forward and walks her back legs forward. She CAN move them, but it’s all wrong. I can’t take her to the vet until in the morning – what should I do and observe tonight? This is so sad.

  Does it looks as if something is broken, or is it possible she just sprained something?
  
  I would definitely keep her more confined, don’t let her hop up and down on things etc. Make sure she’s eating, drinking and pooping still. If you can’t get to the vet, there’s really not much more you can do than that.

  All THREE bunny specialty doctors in my town are off work today. This is crazy! Delta (my bun) is eating, drinking, pooping and peeing and even in her small crate, attempting to move around and act “normal” but her legs are not performing normally. When I examine her, she shows that she can feel sensation by pulling away, and acts as if her right leg is more sensitive to my touch than her other. The pet emergency clinic says I can come in, but they have no one on staff that is trained for exotics and my experience with that is that they can cause as much injury as diagnose injury and one vet here routinely sedates bunnies for exam and I don’t find that okay at all.
  
  I am keeping her confined, watching her closely for any subtle changes in eating etc, keeping her clean (fly strike isnt a danger as she is indoors anyway but I am making sure she doesn’t sit in urine, etc. although she is still going into the small litter box in her crate) and have an appointment at 8:30 in the morning. Any additional advice?

  The injury could have caused swelling, which can pinch nerves and cause some loss of control. Do you have access to Metacam? Some people keep in on hand. Otherwise, my only advice is to keep her confined and make sure she’s eating/pooping okay until you can get her to the vet. Putting down something absorbent will help keep her from sitting in pee.
