I make sure Remus gets plenty of pellets, always having a full bowl, an overflowing bowl of greens a day and tons of hay.  The issue is he won’t eat much hay or chew anything to keep his teeth down.  

Tried two different kinds of hay and the timothy cubes.  I go down to the local feed store to get some of the supplies, so he gets very fresh hay and the cubes, the good kind.  Won’t look at the cubes.  Won’t chew on apple sticks.  Won’t chew on toys I’ve bought.  Won’t even chew on the toilet paper or paper towel rolls.  No matter what I try, he won’t.  

Two nights ago, I began removing the pellets from the cage after they’ve been there all day, at about midnight.  The same with the bowl of unfinished greens.  He has been chewing some and noticed more was gone.  Is this acceptable?  He gets plenty to eat, trust me, and is a good size with normal poops and all.  Just want to make sure.  I take it out at midnight and put everything back before i go to bed in the mornings (Night owl who does the awake all night bit).

Additional information i forgot to add 

Someone mentioned the hay with flowers in another thread.  The same with adding those.  That’s a no-no with me.  I just can’t.  I’m on four separate prescription allergy meds and am doing the hay and such I can tolerate without making this worse.  I did notice one of the toys I bought for him, the only one he would chew and annihilated in less than two days (have more ordered) had two small walnuts, whole, in it.  Can he chew things like that?  Pecans I can get my hands on, easily, as everyone one and their uncle down here has trees in their yard.  I do want to add he will chew cardboard and making sure he has some of that, plain with no ink or tape on it.  He won’t even chew blankets, sheets, whatever.  He leaves those alone.
