When you pick up a bunny, make sure you support it’s rear end and secure the hind legs so the bunny can’t kick out back, they can break their spine if they do. Hold the bun in your arms so it’s supported against your body + has the chance to stick it’s nose in the bend of your elbow, buns often get calmer when they can hide their faces.
Bunnies as a rule won’t like being picked up. Few adult bunnies will ever learn to like it. That said, they can learn to tolerate it and it is important that you can hold your buns for stuff like nail-clipping and health checks, sometimes you might need to give medication etc.
You can start by lifting the bun up only inches off the ground, then put her down again. I don’t think practicing this once a day is good, it stresses the bun out so the stress isn’t gone the next time you come to lift it. But once a week/ a couple of times a week you can try to lift her up, then just put her down again. She will learn eventually that nothing really bad happens. Go with what feels right, if she acts like she’s terrified, don’t do a lift.
Generally a bunny’s trust is best gained by using treats. You can also hand-feed her pellets. They tend to want to be close to the source of food (you).
