Hi everyone ! Hope this is the correct place to post about this.
I’ve had my bun, Kraid, since about May last year. We adopted him from a Petco, and they gave us the info on him. They said they estimated his age at about 3, and that he was found in a house where his previous owners had moved out and abandoned him. Probably not good for a first time bun, but when we saw him at the Petco time after time (he was there about two months) I decided I wanted to give him a new home.
Anyhow, we’ve had him since about May and he still doesn’t seem like he’s warmed up very much to us. I’m wondering if his abandonment is the cause and if he might ever open up to us.
I’ve read around about bonding with buns and have tried everything, but he still keeps to himself more than anything.
He’s been neutered, and he’s in good health otherwise. He does enjoy being pet, and will chitter at times, but still seems to distance himself from us.
Is there anything you guys have tried to get shy buns to open up ? Or do you think he might always be a bit distant because of the abandonment ? Am I reading his body language wrong ?
