I have Happy’s first vet visit scheduled for Jan. 4th. Since Happy is my first pet rabbit, I just thought I’d check and see if anyone has any advice for me. With my other pets, I like to make a list of questions before I go, so that I won’t accidentally forget to ask something while I’m there. Are there any important questions I should be asking? I was also wondering if anyone could tell me what to expect. Are there things I should be watching for, to make sure my vet is checking everything I need? It’s not that I don’t trust my vet. They are experienced with rabbits and other small animals, and they have always treated us (and our kitties) very well. I just like to be as informed as possible. I was also wondering about transporting rabbits. I planned to use our small cat carrier, and put some towels or a small blanket on the bottom. Is this the safest way? Should put some hay in there too? Should I bring some treats with to help keep her calm during the visit? Should I bring a water bottle for her? I am hoping it won’t be too scary for her. I don’t want her to be traumatised. Lol

Yup the carrier with hay and blankets is perfect. You can bring treats but I’ve always found mine won’t eat at the vet-it’s not the vet so much as the trip and being away from home.
I would make a list of questions too-maybe discuss the diet you are feeding, what to do in an emergency, where you should go if they are closed (if they are not a 24/7 operation), what type of symptoms are worth a vet visit, what are wait and see symptoms-ask about their phone policy, i.e. can you just call with concerns or do you always have to come in; -these are all questions people have and it’s best to have them answered by your particular vet

Thanks! None of those were on my list yet. So far I have stuff like, how often should I trim her nails, and how to properly check her teeth. I will add that stuff as well. I’m actually excited about this appointment. I get to find out if Happy is indeed a female, as I suspect, or just a tricky male.
