Hello!
So, my little bun got neutered on Tuesday early in the morning and I picked him up just a few hours later with his pain medications. I’m supposed to give him his medication once a day in the morning. I set an alarm to give it to him every morning at 7:30 and he is SO easy with the medication. He loves the taste and gulps it up. It’s been a little bit harder to leave him in his cage though because normally he just roams free with his cage door open (even when I sleep), but the vet said he should be in his cage when he is unsupervised just to be safe. Lately I have been staying up once I give him his medication and then I don’t go to sleep until much later so he has about 15 hours out of his cage.
ANYWAYS, my problem is that today is Christmas Eve and I should be going to see my family and stay through Christmas (at the very least). He has never been to my parents house (which is about 45-50 minutes away), so I’m nervous about making him suffer through the stress of that after his surgery. Normally when I leave, my roommate is here to take care of him, but she is with her family for Christmas as well. I would just let him be and fill him up since I could probably make it back in 24 hours, but then he would miss his pain medication, which really worries me, or he could rip out his stitches.
I was just wondering if anyone has traveled after a neuter and how their bun handled it and if you have any advice as to what you think I should do in this situation?
P.S. he has hated the car rides so far to the vet which is about 5-10 minutes
