Hi I recently adopted 2 lionhead bunnies from Assisi in Northern Ireland at the end of August. In the first week both Dani & Mittens had an attack of the snuffles, Mittens bounced back no problem but ever since Dani has gone through stages of sneezing, not eating and generally not being happy. After being back and forth from the vets for months (thankfully I have pet insurance) we have figured out theres nothing physically wrong with her its all psychological meaning when she gets stressed she gets snuffle symptoms. At this point I was wondering if anyone had any tips for de stressing their rabbits?

I have pet remedy which I spray in her pen, the relationship between her & Mittens seems fine they’re grooming each other, sleeping close together etc. sometimes her down turns can last a matter of hours and other times it can be days which is stressful for us all.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Is there no routine at all you can pin it down to? My bun is generally chilled but some nights he would thump and I couldn’t work out why. In the end I realised a pattern between the thumping and the boiler coming on. It can be little things like that which freak them out…

Oh really? Rabbits are sensitive souls! In a moment of desperation I got a relatively large cardboard box cut some holes in it and stuck some hay in and she seems to love that, I saw her eating hay for the fist time in days last night. So now Im thinking there isn’t enough hidy holes in the pen…cardboard boxes will do for now but I think I need a more permanent solution

Cardboard boxes with a doorhole on either side are very good for rabbits. Not only are they hidey-houses with a safety-exit reminiscent of how a natural rabbit- warren is constructed, they can also be improved by “bunstruction”. A bunny can spend many fulfilling hours customizing a cardboard house.

A more permanent solution in wood etc is also good though, because rabbits like a platform to lounge on, and the roof of f ex a wooden hidey-house is often very much appreciated as a vantage point.

Thanks for your advice and for introduction to the word ‘bunstruction’! Been looking at http://Www.manorpethousing.co.uk and they seem to have some good stuff that Im gonna invest in.
