I won’t be putting him in cargo but I’m not sure a kennel that would fit under an airplane seat would be roomy enough for him to turn around, etc., and I’m not sure it wouldn’t be too stressful for him.  On the other hand, he doesn’t like being in the car, so would 3-4 days traveling be too much?  I would really rather not rehome him but I obviously don’t want to kill him from stress either?

If you haven’t already booked a flight, I would shop around and see if I can find one with larger seats. I have occasionally traveled cross country with Bobbi. She is extremely lazy, and it would be very difficult to make her nervous. She’s a rather large minilop. I did fly first class with her so that she had plenty of room. If it’s only 3-4 hours, as long as he has plenty of his fave veggies, and small treats, I’d think that her would be okay. It really depends on how you feel about him. How old is he? I wouldn’t subject an old rabbit to stress, but I also know how heartbreaking it is to rehome a beloved pet. Good luck with your decision!

He is 9 mos old and 11.5 lbs.  He could probably handle it…I hope.  I know he gets scared by the vacuum so I’m sure the noise would bother him.  I read that someone gave their’s a very light sedative (valium I think it was).

There is a product called Rescue Remedy. It contains a blend of botanicals which are meant to calm people and animals. There are threads here about it that you can find in a search. Here is one website that mentions it: http://bananasforbunnies.org/?page_id=255. That page also has various individual botanicals listed in alphabetical order, that can be used for reducing stress, but it seems like it would be easier to just use the Rescue Remedy. It comes in various formulas.

My vet gave that to me for my very first bun! She was a nervous bunny, it worked great for her! I’d definitely try that!

It comes in either drops or a spray. I chose the drops, they worked great! Not sure about the spray, that might scare a bunny.
