Lily was eating some red and green lettuce (pretty vigorously I should mention) when i looked over and noticed a dark stain on her face.  It was around her mouth and right below her nose, so it was hard to tell where it was coming from.  The lettuce seemed okay, but the there were some droplets around the plate.  It were kind of a greenish black color.

My hypothesis is that she ate too fast, inhaled some food and sneezed it out or something, but I don’t know.  She’s acting pretty normal, but I can’t shake the feeling that we dodged a bullet here.

Lettuce can make a surprisingly dark “juice.” My guess is it just got all over her face while she was eating it?
Was the liquid dense, like it had actual lettuce in it, or more like colored water?
If it happens again(hopefully it doesn’t), snap a pic so maybe we can figure out what it is.

It was probably lettuce juice. red and green lettuce is like a dark purple right? So I wouldn’t be surprised if the juice was that color. My rabbit sometimes eats particularly juicy green lettuce and ends up staining her mouth green and dripping green juice everywhere.

Porky often leaves veggie juice puddles on my carpet when he eats his salad. It’s probably from the veggies, not the bunny.

colored water, pretty much. it was just so much darker than anything I’d seen before, it freaked me out. Good to know it was probably nothing.
