  Winnie is only 2 months old. When i got her the previous owner fed her mana pro pellets which is a alfalfa based food, at the time i had read that alfalfa based foods had to much protien. So i bought her Kaytee timothy based pellets. Because i was so worried about her little bunny digestive system not liking the difference, i made sure i did like an 80/20 mixture. When i did that she would ONLY pick out the mana pro(alfalfa based) food. So, I decided not to switch her foods yet. Maybe she wasnt ready. So i put all mana pro again. And realized she wasnt eating it at all. So i put the new food (timothy based) in their and she started eating it fine, with no digestive problems.when i wake up in the morning i fill her bowl with Kaytee pellets and by the time i get home at 5 its mostly gone. But somedays it looks untouched when i get home. And that worrys me. Somedays she eats WAY more and some days she barely eats. and because i dont want her to not eat . I will put alittle bit of her old food in their and she will eat it all up. Its like somedays she wants timothy based food and somedays she wants alfalfa based foods. Should i not switch it up even if she doesnt eat one or the other? She drinks plenty of water and her poops always look fine. I need help. Is she just an extremely picky eater?

  Let me add im scared switch her foods like that when she wont eat one or the other will hurt her tummy, i dont want to do that but i also dont want to see her not eat. And let me add. On the days she doesnt eat her whole bowl. Shr still eats her food. Just not as much as usual. If i had seen her not eating at all. I would take her to the vet, but thats not the case. Am i worrying to much?

  I do know there is a way to give a certain amount of pellets for how much the rabbit weighs, I can look into it and reply more later. In the meantime, I think this may help, and although I am not an expert, she might be overeating certain days and not feeling it the next because of eating to much the day before.

  Thankyou, i really hope thats the case. Shes just a baby still, so she gets unlimited pelets for now.

  Most people don’t start switching from alfalfa based pellets to timothy based pellets until a bunny is 7 or 8 months old. But that’s not to say that it’s bad for your bunny to eat timothy pellets now. You didn’t mention if she is a good hay eater. Hay is the most important food that they can eat, so if she isn’t eating a lot of it, try different brands or varieties. It’s a little early for her to start having greens or veggies, but in another month you can try those. Start with one variety, such as Romaine lettuce or kale, and try that for a week. The following week you could try another green such as cilantro, then gradually introduce greens into her diet. It could be that she is just hungrier on some days than she is on others. As long as she is producing good poops and seems healthy and energetic, it sounds like she’s doing okay.

  Thanks, i feel like she doesnt eat as much hay as she does pelllets, ive tried so many ways to get her to eat it but she just nibbles on it every now and then. Im gonna buy some oat hay for her today and see if she likes that. I know rabbits diet is like 85% hay.

  She still has timothy hay in her cage, but i added alfalfa and sge doesnt stop eating it! She loves it
