Lux will be just fine, I’m sure of it. Bunnies shouldn’t die from a spay surgery, unless there is something medically wrong with them that no one knew about. A rabbit savvy vet should tell you that the vast majority of their patients have made it (they all lose one or two, it happens). So try not to worry too much. If this vet is very experienced, then Lux’s chances are very good. Once she’s home, you’re going to want to let her rest for a day or two and try to avoid strenuous activity for the first week.

I have two just out of spay Friday and still on daily metacam.

One is very docile and the other not so much, though they are basically on ” bed rest ” the brown one can’t contain itself sometimes. Short of sitting on it I fail to see how to stop it from moving around the x pen. It only has one or two energetic episodes throughout the day and it seems fine.

I don’t really see a problem with that height level. She probably won’t move around much the 1st day.

One thing I noticed with girls post-spay is they’re more likely to drink if you put their water right next to them.

If you’re dropping her in that early, make sure she has her hay and maybe a scattering of pellets in it. It’s important she eat right up until op time. Make sure staff know to put it in with her.

The first day or so she won’t be moving around much, perhaps not at all. You should see some poop pretty soon, but not a lot of them since she isn’t moving about. Any poop is good, even if it’s just a couple of them.

Glad she made out well. It’s pretty major surgery so she will be sore and sleepy, especially the first couple of days. It’s great that she’s already eating.
