Hey everyone me and my fiancé recently became bunny dads! While we originally planned on only getting one for the family we couldn’t help but feel bad and decided to buy our little lion head dwarf a buddy/partner which is how we ended up with our second rabbit Eva a mini Rex. We had them set up in two separate Xpens with alongside each other and after about 2 months they finally warmed up to each other and we found them sitting next to each other on opposing sides. Even before this they didn’t quarrel or argue they in earthly found comfort and joy in each other’s company. They both about 4 months old and have plans to be spayed and neutered the second week of January.
The real issue now lies in our third rabbit a 1 year and a half English spot boy Chester. He is surprisingly docile and even though he was unexpected rescue we found him at our local pet shop abandoned and left to a side cage on the floor for three weeks. We finally caved in a bought him from the place for $30 and with very little history on him and such. We have a vet visit planned to get him checked out and to schedule his neutering. We also have him set up in a separate Xpen on the other side of Tahcters Xpen with Eva in the other side. When Eva and Chester were side by side they fought ALOT.
Our little mini Rex female is extremely not fond of our English spot. Me and my fiancé think it’s due to him being another male and Eva already views Thatcher our dwarf lion head as her “mate”. We also know for a fact that Chester is extremely territorial(chinning, scattering poop, and marking with pee).
Now we may be new to this whole rabbit parent business but we have been doing our research and gathering our books. I’m here asking this fine online community for any tips in socializing all my buns so that after they are all fixed their first introductions go well and we can bond them all.
