KK so Chom apparently loves tummy rubs. I was doing my “skritchies” which he loves. Cause he is shedding now, I vigorously rub him with the tips of my fingers, so it’s like he is getting a mix of really good pets, and scratching any itchy spots he may have from dry skin/new growing in fur. He LOVES skritchies. Starts licking everything in sight whenever I do it, which he only ever does whenever I rub his ears. It’s how he shows he likes it. Weirdo I know.

So tonight he flopped during the skritchies session, and I experimentally tried it on his tummy, and oh god he flopped further, stretched his back legs out all the way, and started licking everything within reach. I stopped, and he sat up, nudged my hand roughly, and flopped and exposed his belly to me again, and kept repeating that until I continued the tummy rubs. I’ve NEVER heard of a rabbit liking tummy rubs before.

Now Speckles…. She is just being odd. Okay so before Chom moved in, and she was not spayed yet, Speckles was very affectionate. She was always around us humans, snuggling, licking, or trying to get some form of attention at all hours of the day. God forbid we weren’t paying attention to her.

Then we got Chom home again, and she got spayed. Once she healed, they bonded, and she was FRIGID towards us. Skirted around us, avoided pets…. She just wanted attention from Chom, and only Chom. A lot of people told me that’s normal, she will go back to enjoying us humans in a month or two… New bonded love….

But now, three months later, it’s rare that we will get to pet her. The only thing that gets her near us is food, which we hand feed. But she snatches it out of our hands, and runs away with it, to eat in a corner, and then repeats. She just literally seems to dislike us now, and it broke my boyfriend’s heart, because she had been bonded to him. But now she avoids him worse than she does me. If she is near Chom, I can get a few small head and cheek rubs in before she pulls away. He can’t even get a single head rub in. The second he reaches for her she bolts. 

It wasn’t like this until she bonded with Chom. Has her husbun just replaced the need for attention from us humans? And if so, then why does Chom still ADORE attention from us?
