  Hey guys! I got two baby bunnies from the same litter about a month and a half ago. They have been nothing but sweet to myself and to each other. I found out they were both boys when I took them to the vet two weeks ago. I was slightly concerned about them fighting but didn’t really focus on it because up until today they absolutely loved snuggling and grooming each other. Today they were acting normal when out of nowhere they started attacking each other to the point that they were pulling chunks of fur off each other. I immediately separated them and luckily we’re all safe! I have a couple of questions: 1.) my gut reaction is to keep them in separate cages from now on where they could still smell each other but I’m worried they’ll now be lonely without each other, am I just being a paranoid mommy by thinking they’ll be “lonely” lol? 2.) It literally broke my heart that my little boys acted like that, if I keep them apart until they’re neutered will I have to start the bonding process completely from scratch? 3.) Is all supervised interaction out of the question until they’re neutered? I’m a first time owner, so I apologize for any of my naïveté.

  It is perfectly normal for two boy buns to act like this when they hit puberty. I’m glad you’re all safe! Your gut instinct is correct, you need to keep them separated until they are neutered and fully healed (1 month is recommended you wait after the neuter). They will be lonely without each other, so it’s good if you keep them where they can smell and hear each other.
  
  Since they’ve only fought once and since they came out of it without injuries (check their gentital areas carefully for wounds, they tend to go for those parts), re-bonding will most likely not be a huge deal since they’ve grown up together and been friiends until now. I would recommend you to not let them meet until they are neutered + healed, because if they fight more, re-bonding will be more difficult.
  
  So, you are doing everything by the book here, and their fighting was not due to something you did wrong, it’s just hormones and boy bunnies being boy bunnies. I don’t think you seem naive. It’s not so super-easy with bunnies since they are a belligerent species, in spite of their fluffy and innocent appearance.
