We are brand new to bunny ownership. we got our bunnies today, one has a funky eye. They gave us eye drops, but they are just saline. Google seems to indicate this is worse than we were told. They said a scratch but his eye should be fine, we figured even if he were blind in one eye he will be fine here. I’m just not sure if I need to do anything more than drops. I don’t even know if our vet sees rabbits. Any thoughts or advice?

Looks like it may be conjunctivitis. You’re going to need a vet for that so you can get proper medication.

Agreed. Rabbit needs antibiotics. Where did you get your bunny from? If it was a shelter, they should be able to recommend a bunny vet. Otherwise, call yoru local vet and ask for a recommendation. Vets usually know who in the area sees exotics.

              Welcome : )

They said a scratch but his eye should be fine,

A scratch in the eye can easily become infected. It’s a shame they didn’t seek treatment when it happened.

Your vet should know the basics at least. They also should have a medication formulary to indicate what is and isn’t safe for rabbits.

If you feel comfortable posting your City/Town and State, we may be able to recommend a rabbit savvy vet for any future needs.

We got them from the feed store, i’m thinking that was a mistake… :/  It looks like my vet is actually already rabbit friendly so that is good at least.
