In my apartment complex the maintenence people occasionally have to enter our appartment. The official policy states that all pets must be “restrained” during visits.
Because we are always at work during these visits we lock our rabbits in their cage on these days. Our rabbits generally roam the whole appartment but their cage is “home base” where we keep the hay and water.
We only lock them in about once every 6 months so they really don’t expect it. One of our rabbits apparently never realizes when the cage is closed and ALWAYS tries to jump through the door when it’s closed. We tried tying ribbons to the door, putting a sheet of paper over it, pretty much everything we could think to indicate that the door was closed. Yesterday we had to lock them in so we put cardboard over where the door is and he threw himself into it TWICE (that we saw).
I hate locking them in, but we need to on occasion. How do we keep our little dude from hurting himself trying to jump into a closed door??
Thanks for your responses.
