Exercise pen for rabbit?

  Hello all,
  
  So my rabbit, Cookie, has been doing very well in his outdoor hutch, but is has been getting slightly colder, so I think I will move him inside again. I have a NIC cage that measures “56 length, 28″ width, and 28” height. That is plenty of room for him, although I would like to purchase an exercise pen to add extra space onto his cage, and also so I could have him run around in the pen while I clean out his main cage.

  It measures 64″ in diameter and 30″ in height. My question is, is this a good pen to purchase? Also, does anyone think that 30″ is too low for height? Cookie is not a frequent jumper, but his cage has a top, so it would be pointless for him to try to jump out.

  Willow jumps a 36″ inch one and she is a small lionhead bunny.

  Hmmmm. So, do you think a 40″ or 48″ would be better?

  If he’s jumping out of a three-foot-high pen, then he’s a jumper and might try to jump out of one that’s 40 or 48 inches and end up hurting himself in the process. We keep our bun (5lb lop) in an 36-inch high uncovered xpen and he’s never tried to get out; and we keep him busy with a ridiculous amount of toys. If you’re worried he’ll try to jump, you can get an x-pen cover like the ones below.
