  Can anyone help me? I havd a little Netherland Dwarf who has just today recently started to behave differently, mainly with her breathing. She is eating and pooing fine but i noticed a few days ago she started to breath rapidly. I took her to the vets a few days ago and they thought she seemed ok, just a bit stressed. I have noticed the last 2 days though that she is getting very stressed very quickly (even when picked up for a short time which isn’t normal for her) and this evening she was sat breathing rapidly with her head pointed in the air, which can’t be a good sign.
  
  I don’t know how old she is as we found her a year ago running through a nearby town. she is normally a very feisty girl but the last few days she has not been her normal self. I am taking her to another vets tomorrow for a second opinion. I am wirried she might have heart or lung disease as she is breathing through her mouth with her head up when she get stressed and does a kind of funny yawn and hiccup noise.
  
  Any suggestions as to what might be wrong with her.

  You’re doing the best thing you can-getting another opinion. In the meantime, I’d keep a close eye and make sure she’s comfortable, eating and drinking etc. If you can keep her quiet (no loud TV, people over etc) that would make her feel better. The only other thing I could suggest until your vet appointment is if you have a thermometer, take her temp and if it’s low offer a warm water bottle and if it’s high offer a cold water bottle.
  
  Actually take video of her breathing and what’s alarming you-she may be so hyped at the vet that she’s masking it-if you can show them video that might be helpful.

  How does her belly look and feel (touch it very gently)? I’m thinking gas here, which is not as innocent as it sounds if it’s a lot of gas that’s pressing up on her lungs/diaphragm. You definitely need to have her seen again. Do try and get a video as K&K says. A bunny should never breathe through the mouth.
  
  Congestive heart failure is another thought I get (remember these are just my THOUGHTS, I’m not a vet! So don’t get freaked out, just get her checked out.) Can you hear any wheezing when she breathes?

  Linda i would suggest you to stay as calm as possible as bunnies can sense the tension. let her know that you are there, you love her. breathing problem is something that makes suffer a lot and makes one restless. the yawn and her keeping her head pointed upwards is a sign that she is trying hard to breathe fully but she is incapable of doing so. i have seen my brother doing this(keeping his head pointed upwards) when he has breathing problem. the breathing problem itself is very stressfull, and when you are holding her she is stressing more so i would suggest not hold her for some days atleast till she is fine again. but do give her pets and kisses.
  and also can this be cough and cold? breathing problems often occur due to cough and cold. did you check her nose? some times you can see no runny nose but there is dry cough inside so when she is sleeping or laying down, try to hear her breathing and check if some sound is coming out. if yes then probably she has severe cold. let us know what the second vet said.
