In order to prevent frozen human toes I have both low-pile and high-pile wool rugs (as well as sheepskins) all over my apartment. My bun Chewie likes them for zipping around and doing binkies, but he seems to prefer to run around and relax on the exposed portions of the floor (i.e., slippery high-gloss tile).

I see his feet daily and he has never had any signs of sore hocks, but I worry about things like hip displacement, etc.

Is his love of tile normal or even healthy?

Hi if it’s any help, my bun prefers the cooler areas too (and not only in the warm season). She has a whole choice of rugs (to be gnawed, obviously!), mats (ditto) and non-slip rubber thingies (double ditto!!) and chooses to push them out of the way and lay (“lay?” dramatically throwing herself into a side flop, head rotating 180° to look at the ceiling!!) on the tiles against the cool french windows.
I’m guessing if she didn’t like it, or it hurt her, then she wouldn’t do it….

Hmm… It seems to me that for bunnies it’s a matter of honour to not use any items the way they were actually intended. lol

As long as you have a place for your bunny to rest his feet i dont think he would get sore hocks. Same goes with my rabbit , i put fleece in my cage and she digs it up for like 30 mins and puts it to one side just to lay down on the cold floor. So whenever shes out i have to put a fleece on the floor and she never sits on it. So this may be a common obsession among rabbits . Btw , what a cute little fluffy butt !
