So I’ve had my baby bunny Henry for one week now. He is about 9 weeks old and I got him from a breeder who I think mishandled him (or didn’t handle him at all). I am trying to find ways to handle him so that I can bring him to the vet for his first check up this week. When we first brought him home, he seemed to be very shy yet still curious of his surroundings. During play time, he will run behind my back, binky, do bunny 500s, play, put his front paws on our lap, lick us, and even eat hay and pellets from our hands. He is also allowing us to pet him on the head and ears when he is laying down, however, if he is not laying down he hops if we try to pet him. We are aware of his blind spot and approach him from the side but he still hops away. We want him to feel comfortable enough with us so that we can pick him up for nail trimmings, and bring him to the vets, but we are not sure how to do this. What are some ways to approach picking him up for the first time, and getting him used to being on our lap for nail trimmings?
