So, we occasionally get feild mice in the house. I have had great success catching them with our humane mouse trap, but taking them out at 2am is a bit of an issue. Of course I don’t want to leave them in the trap too long though.
So, went and bought a mouse cage from the pet store. I got a wheel, water bottle, and food dish too. This way, the mouse could be perfectly comfortable till I was ready to drive it somewhere far enough away it wouldn’t be back.
Well, last night I caught one. I put the trap into the cage and opened the traps escape hatch for it, then closed the cage door. Of course the mouse started running about and he looked scared. I got distracted for just a moment by something in the next room and when I looked back, the mouse was gone! Just totally disappeared. Everything was still in place, the door was still shut, but the mouse was gone.
Only possible explanation is he slipped right through the bars. Now, I know feild mice are smaller than the house mice sold as pets, but only a wee bit.
