Hello!
We rescued a bunny 2 years ago & we usually leave her out for a while to run free around the house but under our strict supervision because she chews anything she can: baseboards, furniture, cables… We cannot leave her in the house alone without having on eye on her. We also have 2 kitties. We have a screened patio where they all love being, but they cannot use it when it’s too cold in the winter or too hot in the summer and my heart breaks reducing our bunny to a cage. So we decided to convert the screened patio into a 4 seasons room/patio where we could keep the bunny whole year round so she could have a lot of space to run and jump.
Right now I have a temporal pet door and cats and bunny know how to use it. So, in one side of the pet door there is the patio and when they pass through the pet door, in the other side I have bunny’s cage so she can get in and out anytime she wants. But, I’m really tired of that idea because cats cannot get into the house freely but they go to the cage too so I have to open and close the cage’s door all the time they want in and out of the house.
Also, since the cage is always on the way, we cannot go out to the patio so easily either.
We have in mind to let the bunny into the house sometimes to run and play around under our supervision… But the idea is having her most of the time in the big 4 seasons patio.
So, I really need ideas about how or where could I fix a pet door where the rabbit won’t be able to reach and use it, but cats yes could pass freely through it and get easily into the house and out.
Any ideas are welcome.
Thank you very much!
