I have two bunnies, I got them at the same time and they’re bonded and live together. Both bunnies are desexed. Boston (my male bunny) was timid at first as is expected and then slowly started to warm up to me, he still isn’t super comfortable around me but he’s making progress.

My problem is Poppy (a female bunny) she was also timid at first but really hasn’t made much progress at all. I keep my distance from her and don’t try to hold her or anything because I don’t want to scare her but she seems to be in a constant state of high alert with the tiniest noise or movement sending her running into the back of her hutch.

Does anyone have any ideas how to make her more comfortable? I don’t want the poor little girl to be stressed out all the time and would like to have a positive relationship with her one day.

ps. I’d also love some tips on how to pick her up because I need to check her stitches have dissolved and everything’s good after her spay.

my one black bunny, mama, is fairly timid with most people she’s much better now but it took time. what i did to get her to get used to me was feed her treats through the bars of her cage. at first she didnt come, but when she started to realize i was giving her sweet treats she would take them from me. it took a bit but feeding her treats like that helped because she began to recognize me as something good instead of something to be afraid of.

i’m not really sure how you would pick her up now though since she’s still not comfortable with you.

She actually does take treats from me sometimes which is nice But it has to be when there’s no other noise and stuff like that. I’m mostly worried that she’s always stressed because it would be bad for her health :c Hopefully it’s just a question of time and sweet treats haha
