  Hi! Don’t know if this is in the right section but I think it falls under “care.”
  
  My rabbit’s right leg is splayed, so she hops around putting pressure on an unnatural spot. This isn’t something that’s going away, so I was hoping to get help with what I believe is a sore hock. Both treatment now and long-term care.
  
  Flooring: I’m working on it. It’s tile and she has a few Jute mats. I’m trying to get her used to fleece. So far she just hops away from it. No wire anywhere, and her litter is CareFresh. She’s a chewer so I’m also weary about fleece in general. I get more Jute mats as I can afford them.
  
  Nails: she has never had her nails clipped, and I know this could cause sores on her other foot. She is almost 11 weeks old. Is this a good time to have her nails clipped for the first time? I don’t know why but I am worried she’s too young.
  
  Treatment: I have some Original Neosporin on hand. I can get Bag Balm in a few hours if that’s really more effective. Are either of these options unsafe for the bunny to ingest/lick in small amounts? Is it even a good idea to soften the skin with either of these or will it make it worse?
  
  What else could I do besides giving more soft surfaces? Thanks for reading!

  Yes, bag balm will relieve the skin. If her nails are too long she probably is putting more weight in her heels but im not too sure

  11 weeks is not to young to clip her nails.
  Neosporin (original, not the one with painkiller) is bunny-safe and I’ve heard other people here have used bag balm on their buns. There are other ointments called Silvadene and Heal-X that are recommended for sore hocks.
  
  I found an article by Dana Krempels, who is a major authority on pet rabbits, that suggests a way of making a bandage with a bit of bunny fur in it to relieve pressure (maybe you can’t get bunny fur right away but you can save up some every time you brush her.) It sounds a bit tricky to make, but not impossible and maybe it’s sth your bun will need since she has this splayed leg.
