My little sister has a rex bunny and this week it has been particularly hot. Well the bunny is breathing… Strange. He breaths as fast as his little nose goes and you can hear him breathe through his nose. Is this heat stroke or what?!

It doesn’t sound great. How hot is it, exactly? 75-80 can give a rabbit heatstroke. I turn my ac on the second it hots 70. There’s are some tips on here for helping rabbits beat the heat. You should take a look.

Ok thank you very much I gave him a frozen water bottle. My sister isn’t too… Responsible and doesn’t hold him much so I do all the holding and check ups. But I certainly will do that! Thank you!

Mine loves the frozen water bottle. Also, a fan really helps, as long as he has a spot he can hide from it. Mine LOVES the fan. He actually likes to sit behind it, so he gets some air but not the full thing. Just make sure he cant get the cord.

Thank you all so much! I moved him from her room ( which is a noticable couple of degrees hotter ) to our loft area where it is cooler. I think one of his problems was that he hated the water bottles to drink from so I put a bowl of water in for him so he seems to be drinking more. I wet down his ears periodically and gave him the frozen water bottle. I can no longer hear with breathing from far away but I can up close but he seems better. Before he wouldn’t move because he was so hot so I think he is better-ish until this heat wave passes. Thanks again guys! I’m still open to any suggestions!
