GI stasis is banana safe in critical care mix?

  Hello friends! My little mate Squishles has had a bout of GI stasis. Poor little guy had to be poked and prodded at the Lort Smith animal hospital yesterday. He did do some very small black poos over night. Not much today tho.
  
  Apart from the two medicines (one guy stimulate and one pain relief) I have to give him the Ox Bow critical care.
  
  He is generally pretty easy going and trust worthy. He’s shares my apartment with me and is always by my side. He even sleeps next to me beside the bed. Now my problem is with giving him the medicine orally. He really fights it and is clearly distressed about it. He is even very distrusting of me at the moment and runs away when I try to pet him if he thinks I might be picking him up to feed him his medicine. The two meds are easier than the critical care. He is quite alert and eating any greens I give him. So I tried smashing up some of his favourite treat banana in the critical care. He loves it and will eat it off my fingers.
  
  Is over doing the banana going to cause any blockage or have any negative affects with his GI stasis? I would like to keep this method going if it is ok for a day or two because he loves it and is so less stressful on him to have the critical care this way.

  Some banana in his cc will be just fine. Let him try it au natural first, if it encourages him to eat on his own it’s even better.

  While it is true that sugar should be avoided in a bunny’s diet, now the most important thing is to get him to eat. If banana entices him to eat CC, and it’s just for a little while, I think it’s ok. Excess sugar can cause a bacterial imbalance in the gut (dysbiosis), but prio one just now is that he eats his CC so his gut keeps working. CC has lots of fiber that the bunny gut depends on.

  Thank you for the help and kind word guys!
  For now I’ll try to put the smallest ratio of banana in the CC to keep the sugar to as minimum as possible.
  He finally did some droppings after the second CC feed! Still very tiny and black (like currants) but he did a little pile of about 30! So I’m guessing this is at least a good sign. He even went over and had a little nibble on his hay! Again thank you for your time and support with helping my little best friend get better again. ??

  Hi again! If I could ask for an opinion on the possibility of over feeding him the critical care mix? And also possibly over feeding him greens? He’s the kind of bunny if I wanted to keep offering any fresh leafy greens he probably wouldn’t stop eating! He still has this appetite even now with his stasis condition and I don’t want to create more than the required amount going in incase I add to the bloackage.
  
  He seems very alert and walking around. He has even flopped on his side for a relaxed rest which he hasn’t done since becoming unwell. Although he has not done many poos after the good pile he did earlier. Should I take him back to the vet if he is only pooping a small amount? Or wait a couple more days?

  If he’s eating, keep feeding him if he wants it. Maybe be careful with the CC, but definitely keep offering him the leafy greens. When my guy had stasis, I fed him pellet mush mixed with pumpkin, and he couldnt get enough. If they have the appetite to eat, feed him lots of hay and greens. You want to keep his stomach moving as well as possible, so if it means his diet is less than ideal, thats what you should do until his poos are back to normal.
