  well. rocket has just started digging his litter box and I don’t know why, flinging everything out of it, dragging it into the middle of his kennel, it’s beyond messy, annoying and I won’t lie I’m starting to get frustrated.
  originally he had aspen, went fine. switched up the bottom layer for news paper based pellets (absorbency, etc), keeping a top layer of shavings. went fine.
  ran out of shavings, went plain news paper pellets. no go, started digging. bought more shavings thinking that’d fix it. no go, and still digging.
  I’m losing my mind. His litter training improved post-neuter but I’d trade that for not having to clean the kennel 50,000 times a day. I accept there’s a certain amount of mess that comes with the territory of having a bunny in the family but this is insane.
  he has a digbox, that he never uses. access to toys, tons of blankets. no teeth grinding, flat ears or any sign of injury that I can see.

  What type of litter box do you have? I got the largest cat litter box I could (10 or so inches at the back and like 6 or so at the front), and Lilith cannot fling anything out of that. At times when she jumps out when startled she may bring some litter out with her, but I think you should look at the highest sided litter box you can find. That’s what I did!

  I had this problem a while ago. I took a large Rubbermaid storage container and cut a entrance into the corner (kept the lid off). Helped a lot.
  I think it was just a faze because he doesn’t do it anymore and is now using a regular cat litter box.

  I just watched him flip his tray after cleaning it and re-setting it for the 5th time today.

  Did you try clamping it down to the cage? I have mine hooked on to the cage.

  I ended up buying him a new tray, that fixed it. we were gone for the night and it seems he’s upset about that as he’s digging again

  Coco was a litter flinger. She got DISTANCE with the litter too. It was spectacular. And awful.
  
  I finally made a cardboard “wall” that I placed along the side she liked to “fling” (it was tucked under the litter box, but sturdy enough to stand up). Two weeks of the wall and she stopped flinging since she would hit herself with the litter when it bounced off the cardboard back into the litter pan.

  I put a NIC panel in the litterbox, maybe a quarter inch deep. My industrious digger gives up when she doesn’t get far.
  
  I can take it out for days or weeks…when she notices, oh man. I have a 15×30 box, it’s an impressive mess.
